MAC Swatches - (I Broke My No-Buy, Time To Get Back On The Wagon)

Now is the time to have a serious heart to heart, kinda. By now you may have found out - and I feel quite guilty about it - that I have totally smashed my 100 day no-buy. I was doing really well, making a list of everything I liked. Then all of a sudden *BAM* I was overcome with this urge to purchase stuff. I was not feeling well emotionally. I have been quite stressed lately and I wasn't dealing with life well. I take full responsibility for my actions, and am trying to correct them.

I wanted to be honesty with everyone who reads my blog. Reading some blogs can get you do. It seems like everyone is so perfect and happy. Always. That is just not the case. Everyone has good and bad days. Bad habits and wonderful success. I don't blame people for only wanting to share the good. But sometimes, it is better to be honest to your readers, your friends, instead of ignoring a big part of your day, life, self. This is why I feel that I -HAVE- to share this with you. When all my packages arrive I will probably do a collective haul or something. Some things will be from before the no-buy. (I promise I didn't go -that- crazy)

But today, with all of that behind me, my credit card hidden, and a plan to fix and start saving again I want to share with you my first ever MAC purchase. I had been lusting over a few of this for a long time and just cracked and went out immediatly to see them in person, and subsequently take them home with me. I went in with a limit of 100$. I refused to spend anymore than that. I did good. I came out 60$ poorer and 4 lipsticks richer. I picked up:

Viva Glam Nicki - bright yellow pink
Watch Me Simmer - bright pink-orange
Impassioned - amped-up fuchsia
Vegas Volt - full power coral

I am overall happy with my purchase. I am not sure if Nicki looks good on me, but I am ok with that because the money goes to a good cause. I really like Vegas Volt. I am pretty sure that OCC Lip Tar in Grandma is a dupe. Impassioned is a very pretty color and I think I may have a dupe for that as well. I wanted Watch Me Simmer from the MAC COOK, MAC SHOP(?) collection and missed out so I scooped it up this time.

Here are some photos of a fun look. It is very Valentine's day in colors but in style, it could be somewhat considered anti-Valentine's? I think this is just a fun look. This is one of my favorite looks I have done so far that was not somewhat planned ahead of time. I used all indie eyeshadow and that was fun!

What I used

Eyes-
Urban Decay Primer Potion
Detrivore - Creature, Starlet, Bone
Darling Girl - Persuasion, Willow
Glamour Doll Eyes - Tattooed, Phyrra, Candy Floss, Foil Me

Face-
bareMinerals - Prime Time
Make Up For Ever - HD Invisible Cover Foundation in 115 Ivory
ELF - High Definintion Powder
bareMinerals - Lovely
Benefit - Watt's Up!

Lips-

If you want to know how I did this look, I will have a video up as soon as I edit it.

December Favorites

I love seeing posts on peoples favorite products so I thought I would try it out myself. I find these posts to be a good way to see what products are really worth purchasing and what products I was lusting over that are just not worth my time or money. I feel these posts can really help people make an informed decision about a product. It is also fun to see what people really liked or used in a month.

Bath and Body Works - Secret Wonderland Body Butter
I have been using this every night this month. I do not know what it is about it, but I love it.

Glamour Doll Eyes - Midnight Light Show
When you foil this and use it as a liner it is just amazing! I have been using GDE Foil Me mixed with the shadow to create a winged liner, and then patting the shadow on top. It makes it so glittery and festive! I am going to test out Ladies Night since Midnight Light Show is not a permanent color.

OCC Lip Tar -Grandma
Ever since I saw this color swatched I thought, "gosh this is beautiful and I must have it!" This shade is very wearable, I think every skin tone and age group could wear this and look nice. I also like that this is a nice natural lip color with some punch! You can wear it everyday and feel pretty, not like someone's grandma, with this coral pinky color

Darling Girl Cosmetics - Petunia
I love wearing this all over my lid with an intense black winged liner! It adds a hint of color, and warmth without going overboard. Perfect!

Burt's Bees - Beeswax Lip Balm Tin
I cannot live without this.  It is winter here and it is just so dry, especially with electric heat in the apartment, that my lips often need more attention. This is hands down my favorite lip balm. I have been using it since my best friend is high school turned me on to it. The friendship didn't last but the love affair with this balm will never die.

butterLONDON - The Black Knight
I received this for Christmas and it is everything I dreamt it would be. It is a black base with pink, blue, black and silver sparkles! There are no words for how awesome this is.

Have you used any of these products before? Which do you love or hate?
What would be your list of favorites from the month of December?
This is my first post like this so let me know what you think!

OCC Lip Tars - Naturally Neutral Box Set Swatches

On Black Friday I received an email from OCC saying there was going to be a sale as well as two box sets of lip tars. I immediately picked up the two lip tar box sets after falling in love with the first set I had purchased. Today I am going to show you swatches of the Naturally Neutral box set. The set includes five lip tars and their #009 Angle Brush.

Interlace- subtle peach neutral
Melange- deep terracotta neutral
NSFW- true primary red
Grandma- clean and classic true coral
Femme- pale yellow-based pink

All done over bare skin - and no lip liner

I did not think I was going to like Interlace or Melange, but I was pleasantly surprised when I swatched them. I think Interlace would be great for mixing to tone down a color and I feel like I could wear Melange out -as is. I think NSFW would be a great red lip for anyone of any skin tone. It is bright and primary red. I am still undecided as to how I feel about Femme on its own and as before Grandma is still my favorite!

What do you think of these neutral colors? Would you wear any of them alone or do you feel they are more suited to being mixed?

OCC Lip Tars Swatches

Yes I finally gave in and ordered some to see what all the hubbub was about. It took me just about forever do decide which lip tars I wanted to try. There are so many amazing choices, but eventually I picked out five relatively wearable colors to try out. The five lip tars that I chose are:

Feathered- pure, opaque white
Hush- fleshy, natural pink
Grandma- clean and classic true coral
Queen- intense, nearly-neon red/pink
Anime- intense, no holds-barred neon pink

Top- Feathered, Hush. Grandma
Bottom- Anime, Queen

Bottom- Anime, Queen

Feathered

Hush

Grandma

Queen

Anime

Swatches
All done over bare skin - and no lip liner

Top- Feathered, Hush. Grandma
Bottom- Queen, Anime

After testing these out I was totally hooked. I have recently become obsessed with lip and face products. This is totally unfamiliar territory for me, so when something is so easy to use I can't help but say, "YES PLEASE! I WANT THEM ALL!" Quite obviously I would not wear feathered on its own, I purposely bought it to use when mixing lip tars. I absolutely love Grandma. I can wear this color everyday and not get sick of it or look out of place. I also really like Queen but my Fiance does not. He says I look weird because it is too bright. Personally I really like bright lip colors on very pale skin. To each his own. :)

What do you think of OCC Lip Tars? Do you own any? Which is your favorite?
What kind of lip colors do you like to wear?

Also, do you like how I did the swatches, any suggestions on how to make it better?
