Quick Knitting Project - Not-So-Tiny Slippers by Ysolda Teague

A few days ago I acquired Ysolda Teague's Whimsical Little Knits 3. After flipping though it, I just HAD to make the slippers. I was scrolling through ravelry looking for a good pattern over the weekend; it was serendipitous.

Photo from ravelry page

I went out Monday to buy myself a skein of bulky weight yarn (Lion Brand Lion's Pride Woolspun in Peacock) because I didn't have any, and set on my way knitting Tuesday afternoon. I finished my first slipper before my dad got here to help paint. It must have taken me about three hours while cooking and watching Chinatown. Today I finished the right slipper just after lunchtime.

my ravelry page for the project

This was the first time I ever attempted short rows. I had no idea about w+t or picking up the wraps. After watching a video on youtube by VeryPink Knits I felt confident to attack. It didn't seem so hard, and guess what, it wasn't! I will totally keep this pattern in mind if I ever need a gift for someone. They are comfy and cute. I think a lot of people would love to have a pair of these to wander around their house in.

Out to Tea FOTD -1/25/15

Sunday my brother invited Nate and me out to tea with him and a few of his friends. Later Nate's parents came over to visit and have dinner. I was looking for a easy but sparkly look that I could slap on my face and then not touch up the rest of the day. I didn't touch up my lips at all. There is definitely some fading, but it seemed mostly even so I didn't end up with that weird ring you can get sometimes from your lipstick disappearing from eating or drinking. The full face photo is from about 7:30 after Nate's parents left. (which is also why the lighting isn't so great)

What I used:
Milani Eyeshadow Primer
Glamour Doll Eyes - Rocket
Wet n Wild - Brulee
Glamour Doll Eyes - Foil Me
LASpash Eyeshadow Base/Sealer
Glamour Doll Eyes - Monster Mash
Urban Decay 24/7 Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner - Perversion
Maybelline Volum' Express Flared
Sephora Nano Lip Liner - 20 Real Red
NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream - Amsterdam

To be perfectly honest with you guys, I am more than a little disappointed that no one (in real life) seemed to notice my face. I wore OCC's technopagan to my second cousin's birthday party and not one single person commented, which is very odd for that crowd of people. Yesterday I went out with my brother who usually comments on my makeup, and a friend who is a drag queen and no one seemed to enjoy my sparkle.

Do you ever feel like even though you do your makeup for yourself,
you kinda wish sometimes someone would notice?
Its ok though 'cause I loved it.

TEST EOTD - 1/23/15

Sometimes before doing "crazy" or difficult to me looks, I like to practice a bit the day before to see if my idea will even work out. Good news it did! I am going to my second cousin's birthday party tomorrow so I thought, "what a great excuse to use some glitter!" And use glitter I did.

What I used:
Milani Eyeshadow Primer
Darling Girl - Mean Streets of Pasadena
Wet n Wild - Brulee
LASplash Eyeshadow Base/Sealer
Glamour Doll Eyes - Foil Me
Glamour Doll Eyes - Hot Mess
Urban Decay 24/7 Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner - Perversion
ELF Eyebrow Kit - Dark
Maybelline Volum' Express Flared

Do you ever practice or do a test run of your makeup?
Does it usually work out for you?

Super Lazy Space Cow FOTD - 1/20/15

*I had a different blog post planned for Tuesday and I lost my notes that I needed to type up so now I will have to redo everything before I can share it with you. That got me all discombobulated because I spent so much time looking for it so I never got anything done until today. Bad blogger!*

I wanted to wear some makeup, but didn't really want to be bothered. Makes sense, no? I pulled out my binder of indie shadows and looked for a nice purple all over wash of color type shade. I decided Femme Fatale's Space Cow was just that shade. Femme Fatale's website describes this shade as: a soft lavender eye shadow tinged with grey and highlighted by a muted reddish pink shimmer. Personally I find it to be a nice pastel blue leaning lavender with a pretty light blue and pink shift.

What I used:
Korres Mattifying Primer
Revlon Colorstay Foundation - 110 Ivory & 150 Buff
ELF High Definition Powder
Benefit-  Dandelion
Buxom Big & Healthy Lip Stick - Sydney
NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream - Cannes
ELF Eyebrow Kit - Dark
Milani Eyeshadow Primer
LASplash Eyeshadow Sealer/Base
Wet n Wild - Brulee
Femme Fatale - Space Cow

What do you think?
I really love being lazy with my makeup because that means I can wear it more often and still have time for life. Beautiful indie shadows with a nice duochrome really make for a nice look without much effort.
A+
What's your favorite duochrome indie shadow?

This Week's FOTDs - 1/12-1/167/14

Here's how my face looked this week. I was pretty lazy, but that's nothing new. I tried something different and I am not entirely sure I liked it. I honestly think my favorite look on my face, for me, is winged liner and bold lips. It's my comfort zone. Every time I do any kind of eye makeup lately, I am just not a fan of how it looks. *shrug* suggestions?

NOTD - 1/11/15

I finally got around to painting my nails again. I don't think I have given them any thought since, oh a week or two before Christmas. I originally thought about doing a kelly green, but then like always green turns into mint which turns into a light minty blue and then I just NEED some sparkle and tada! today's nails were born.

I used -
OPI Natural Nail Base Coat
Zoya Wednesday
ORLY Halley's Comet
OPI Top Coat

I was trying to be clever and so I failed a little because I was so impatient. I was thinking that I wanted to try the triangle look that leighannsays was rocking for a long time and so I grabbed some tape and immediately pulled up some of the nail polish when removing the tape because I didn't wait long enough for it to completely dry.

I did some touch ups here and there and I think this was passable.
What's on your nails?

Current Obsessions - Dark Lips - Part One

If you are anything like me, you know the importance of a good base. I find if I want my dark lips to last all day, I need to use some kind of lip liner. I have three dark liners, so that makes my choices pretty easy. Do I want black, dark red-berry or dark brown-red. Easy! I really enjoy the NYX liners, but I do prefer the normal pencil liners to the retractable ones. I think they work better and break less often for me.

From top to bottom: NYX Lip Liner Pencil in 851 Black Berry, NYX Lip Liner Pencil in 830 Currant,
NYX Retractable Lip Liner in mlp16 Plum

From left to right: NYX Retractable Lip Liner in mlp16 Plum, NYX Lip Liner Pencil in 830 Currant,
