Out to Tea FOTD -1/25/15

Sunday my brother invited Nate and me out to tea with him and a few of his friends. Later Nate's parents came over to visit and have dinner. I was looking for a easy but sparkly look that I could slap on my face and then not touch up the rest of the day. I didn't touch up my lips at all. There is definitely some fading, but it seemed mostly even so I didn't end up with that weird ring you can get sometimes from your lipstick disappearing from eating or drinking. The full face photo is from about 7:30 after Nate's parents left. (which is also why the lighting isn't so great)

What I used:
Milani Eyeshadow Primer
Glamour Doll Eyes - Rocket
Wet n Wild - Brulee
Glamour Doll Eyes - Foil Me
LASpash Eyeshadow Base/Sealer
Glamour Doll Eyes - Monster Mash
Urban Decay 24/7 Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner - Perversion
Maybelline Volum' Express Flared
Sephora Nano Lip Liner - 20 Real Red
NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream - Amsterdam

To be perfectly honest with you guys, I am more than a little disappointed that no one (in real life) seemed to notice my face. I wore OCC's technopagan to my second cousin's birthday party and not one single person commented, which is very odd for that crowd of people. Yesterday I went out with my brother who usually comments on my makeup, and a friend who is a drag queen and no one seemed to enjoy my sparkle.

Do you ever feel like even though you do your makeup for yourself,
you kinda wish sometimes someone would notice?
Its ok though 'cause I loved it.

TEST EOTD - 1/23/15

Sometimes before doing "crazy" or difficult to me looks, I like to practice a bit the day before to see if my idea will even work out. Good news it did! I am going to my second cousin's birthday party tomorrow so I thought, "what a great excuse to use some glitter!" And use glitter I did.

What I used:
Milani Eyeshadow Primer
Darling Girl - Mean Streets of Pasadena
Wet n Wild - Brulee
LASplash Eyeshadow Base/Sealer
Glamour Doll Eyes - Foil Me
Glamour Doll Eyes - Hot Mess
Urban Decay 24/7 Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner - Perversion
ELF Eyebrow Kit - Dark
Maybelline Volum' Express Flared

Do you ever practice or do a test run of your makeup?
Does it usually work out for you?

FOTD : Birthday Makup - 7/31/2014

Today is the day I turn 25. When I was younger 25 was the age I always thought was the greatest. You had all your shit together, you had a job you enjoyed (at a coffee place), a boyfriend (starving artist type), a cellphone (?), and just generally had a say over what you did. This is mostly true. I have a job that I mostly enjoy, just not at a coffee shop. I don't have a boyfriend, but I do have a lovely husband that I love with all of my heart. I do have a cellphone! And I mostly get to do whatever I want 'cause I'm a grownup!

Because I am so grown up I thought I would be seriously appropriate to wear some sweet blue lips - as I have been obsessing over them like crazy!

What I used :

 Face-
Too Faced Primed & Poreless Pure
Revlon Colorstay Foundation in 110 Ivory

Eyes-
Wet N Wild Brulee
Urban Decay 24/7 Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner in Sabbath
Maybelline Mega Plush Volum' Express

Lips-
NYX lipliner pencil in 851 Black Berry
Geek Chic Cosmetics Geek Gloss in Banished

Fragrance-
Tom Ford Black Orchid

Weekly Loves and Unloves - 7/22-29

On Monday I went to the Palace Theater to see a showing of The Goonies with my husband and our niece. I was so glad to be able to take her to one of our favorite places to see a great movie. The theater will be doing more family night movies like this I can't wait to see what else they show! Unfortunately this young girl says she "doesn't like black and white movies!" Seriously!? This is not ok. What are your favorite black and white movies you think a 10 year old might like? I considered seeing if she was able to see the Evil Dead marathon they will be doing, or if she is able to see Gremlins x Rocky Horror Picture Show. I think she would have a great time, plus she already likes Gremlins. Anyway on to the favorites!

Love : Wet N Wild Color Icon Single - Brulee
I have been using this pretty much every time I do my makeup. It is a great highlight/blending color.

Love : Putting all of my indie shadows in baggies in trading card holders in a binder!
I used to hate baggies and still love jars, but this is soooo much easier. Literally be the idea in the world. I exaggerate but you know what I mean. Everything is at your fingertips, it doesn't take up too much space, and we all know what that means: more room for more makeup!

Love : Philosophy Lipgloss in Pink Frosted Animal Cracker
Seriously. It's just great!

FOTD : Fyrinnae Shenanigans and Darling Girl Stupid Parlor Tricks - 7/22/2014

On the high that was yesterday's victorious eye makeup, I decided to do it again! Warning: picture heavy. EOTD : Darling Girl London Calling and Fyrinnae Orangutan - 7/21/2014

Ah so we meet again! I wasn't entirely happy with the last look I did, so I did another one today. Seems legit. I decided to go nice and simply, using only three eyeshadows in total. I think sometimes that simplicity is best, but I will leave that to you to decide.

What I used:

Milani Eyeshadow Primer
Glamour Doll Eyes Foil Me
Fyrinnae Orangutan
Darling Girl London Calling
Wet N Wild Brulee
Urban Decay 24/7 Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner in Perversion
ELF Eyebrow Kit in Dark

So what do you think, better? I think the blending is better and the overall shape is more what I am going for. I am still trying to figure out how to place and blend a dark color in my crease and outer lid area.

FOTD : Color Palette Challenge - I LOVE CABBAGE

The makeup group I am in started doing challenges and I am ready to dive into this one. Do a look inspired by a color palette. I hopped right over to design seeds to peruse for some inspiration. This photo and color palette jumped out at me. I love the look of the red cabbage and I have been obsessed with dark purple eyeshadows lately so, win-win.

from http://design-seeds.com

I took this challenge as an excuse to finally do a nice dramatic eye look. I have been tending to stick to neutral eyes and a bright lip. Its an easy, lazy look that I can do for work or a party. Lazy, lazy, lazy. (Also I just really love lipstick.)

Products used

Eyes:
Milani Eye Primer
Tick:Tock Cosmetics Eyeshadow Base - Milky Way
Femme Fatale - Spirit Bond
Glamour Doll Eyes - Vigilante
Darling Girl - Die, Die My Darling
Tick:Tock Cosmetics - Awkward Moment
Chinovi-  Cloud
Wet N Wild - Brulee
Maybelline The Mega Plush Volum' Express Mascara
ELF Eyebrow Kit - Dark

Lips:
NARS Velvet Gloss Lip Pencil - New Lover

Face:
Too Faced Primed & Poreless Pure
ELF Flawless Finish Foundation - Porcelain
Bare Minerals Mineral Veil

I really love Femme Fatale Spirit Bond. It is a gorgeous dark purple with a really pretty copper sheen! I wish more of that sheen would have shown up in this look. Die, Die My Darling really shines with its pinky sparkles in real life. :)

I haven't done much eye-wise in quite a while. I am not entirely pleased with the shape I made, and feel like I could stand to practice blending even more than I needed to before. Overall I am pleased with the look though, as I really think it didn't turn out TOO bad. What do you think?
