One Minute Reviews - Chloe ChloƩ Eau de Parfum

I am a fan of quick reviews. If you do not want to waste your time reading the rest of this short review you can stop right here: I hated this.

Notes : Pink peony, freesia, lychee, magnolia flower, lily of the valley, rose, cedarwood, amber and honey

  • At first it smelled like gross overpowering chemicals, similar to bleach or a chlorine type smell. Up close, its chemicals and a little powdery.
  • 20 minutes later is less strong, still doesn't really smell like much other than sweet, powdery, gross and maybe a little green.
  • One hour later, I was still not impressed. I honestly could not smell ANY of the notes they say make up this scent.  This seems to be a total dud for me, at least with my skin chemistry.
  • Three hours later and I feel I can safety say that is is not a scent for me. Most of the scent had dissipated and all that was left if an unpleasant soapy smell on my skin.

I give this a -30 out of 10.
I will definitely never sniff this again!

One Minute Reviews - BPAL Autumn Cider

Can I just say this is in my top 10 favorite scents? I love fall scents most of all, and I love having a bunch of decants from the lovely people on the BPAL forums to test them all out. Today I bring you: One Minute Review of Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab's Autumn Cider!

Notes : Fermented apple juice, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, clove, lemon zest, butterscotch liquor, and orange slices.

At first it smells like a craft store around autumn, you know that really specific "cinnamon" smell that permeates the air? And it certainly smells like that when you sniff your wrist where you applied it. BUT! when it is just wafting around you in a cloud of delicious autumnal amazingness, you can catch a whiff of a beautiful fruitiness that isn't there when you are up close and personal with the scent.

I give this a 10 out of 10.
I will definitely be seriously considering purchasing a full size of this come Halloween time.

One Minute Reviews - Tom Ford Black Orchid

Oh my! *swoon* That was my exact reaction when I sprayed this on my body. There is no other way to react to this scent. Seriously! It is the embodiment of cool, grownup, sexy, elegant, sophisticated.

Notes : Bergamot, Citrus, Mandarin, Black Gardenia, Jasmine, Ylang-Ylang, Lotus Wood, Orchid, Spicy Floral Accord, Orchid (Tom Ford Black Accord), Patchouli, Sandalwood, Incense, Vanilla.

I am so in love. Its spicy; the perfect kind of floral. It smells grown-up but this isn't a powdery old lady scent. This just oozes sexy. Like that women in the old black and white films. Its powerful and playful. I mean, if this was a person I might have to seriously consider marrying it! (I feel so sophisticated sitting here eating my easy mac and watching Sin City.)

One Minute Reviews - Kate Spade Twirl

I was going through all my perfume samples I have received over the years from places like Sephora, and thought it might be a cool idea to do basically mini reviews about them. I say mini reviews because 1- I am not very good at talking about scents and 2- because everyone's body chemistry is different I don't want to make these too long because that just seems silly to me.

Notes : Pink watermelon, red currant, blackberry, orange blossom, star jasmine, tiare flower, magnolia, glittering musk and french cookies (Macarron).

  • After reading though all their notes I settled on testing out Twirl by Kate Spade. Just before I ran out the door for work today I spritzed it.
  • Eh seems ok. My allergies are acting up this morning so I am not sure if this will make them worse. Its really, chemical smelling? Then again, a lot of the commercial perfumes that I have tried have -that- smell.
  • It was kinda strong in the car, it doesn't smell bad, its not the normal scent to me.
  • I am sniffing my arm at work, it smells nice enough, but I don't know if this is a fragrance that I would really wear. I am unsure if it really fits me and I don't know if I will even use up the whole tester.

In conclusion: I always get sucked in by the awesome sounds notes, but always get disappointed in the lack of delivery. I feel like I can't pick out any of the notes which is something I really enjoy doing with the oils I have used.
